I realize this is not really dealing with preservation, but thought it was noteworthy and can be moved as needed.
Today, March 4th, is an important date in the history of the flag(s) of the Confederate States of America for two reasons:
1) On this date in 1861 the First National flag (aka Stars and Bars) was first hoisted over the capitol in Montgomery, Al.
2) Four years later, in 1865, on this very date, President Jefferson Davis signed the bill which created the Third National flag.
Worth noting.
thanks,
Mark
