Back in 2006, Mess No. 1 hosted our first EBUFU event at the original Rich Mountain Battlefield, so it has always held a special place in our hearts. Rich Mountain was an important tactical battle in the Western Virginia Campaign that occurred at the same time as Bull Run and helped (undeservedly) elevate McClellan to command of the Army of the Potomac.
The American Battlefield Trust has posted a video about the battle and ask for donations. In the video, Richard Wolfe of the Rich Mountain Battlefield Foundation tells the story of Frederick Lander's heated exchange with Confedeartes high above Rich Mountain.
