I know this was part of a thread several weeks ago but I just received it officialy in my June NTHP newsletter. It needs to be reinforced daily.

A good portion of the work my employer does is ''rescue archaeology'', sometimes with the four-ton excavator idling in the background. We even have a small team that goes to the commercial excavation deposit facilities to sift for artifacts from sites we were not contracted or funded for.
I have seen the tangible affects that development has on historic places and can share with you things that will keep you up at night.
Give all you can, become involved as much as you can. We cannot afford to loose another square foot.
