Folks,
Many of you have closely watched developments in the ongoing struggle to keep the hallowed ground of Morris Island undeveloped and pristine. Many of you have written when we've solicited your letters opposing the proposed development. For that, all who are allied in the fight to keep Morris Island safe are truly grateful. To date, and with your help, the developer has been stymied at every turn. The one person who bears the most responsibility for our success is Mr Blake Hallman, the chairman of the "Morris Island Coalition." Blake has been relentless and incredibly effective as a preservation champion for the SC barrier island many of us consider to be among the nation's most historic Civil War sites.
Recently, Blake and his wife Liesl lost their infant son William Thomas. When approached by their friends about suitable memorial tributes, Blake, who remains steadfastly devoted to the salvation of Morris Island, suggested those who wish to memorialize his son, may do so by making a contribution to the SC Coastal Conservation League. The League has been and remains a staunch ally in the fight and is prepared to accept donations in the baby's name. Your dollars will be a fitting tribute to William, and help save Morris Island too. They willl be earmarked for the Morris Island fight and credited to the memory of Blake and Liesl's son.
If you care to participate, make out a check payable to:
Hallman Memorial Fund - Coastal Conservation League
and send it to:
