I'm over whelmed by the news. Rest assured that the victory is grinding the nerves of those with the resources to "pollotick" and network their conncetions over the next few years.
While I hope the area never has to go to battle over this issue again, you need to know that there is precedent for additional licenses to be granted, some to be revoked and awarded to unsuccessful bidders, and etc. I have first hand experience and a front row seat to the antics the "gaming industry" is capable of. Louisiana and Mississippi are prime examples of their lies and empty promises.
Both Louisiana and Mississippi were being challenged by poverty, welfare, and corruption...guess what ! All that is still front line issues that have only gotten worse and there are former "polloticks" in jail to prove that gambling is not a growth industry , BUT A SELF GROWTH INDUSTRY !
Finally, rest assured Pennsylvainens (I hope that's right) Your governors threat to hold property taxes in the balance will NEVER yield a reduction in government needs or spending, just because gambling is made legal . The need to cover the ills of gambling will surface within months and the crime rate will rise and the courts will need more resources to compensate and etc. I COULD GO ON AND ON and I know I'd be right.
Thank goodness they lost this round, but never tire in promoting the things that bring revenue to the area and are worthy of being labeled a growth or "shot in the arm" to your economy. The "polloticks" will never admit that you can survive without gambling.
GREAT JOB TO ALL OF YOU WHO WORKED SO HARD, THIS IS A GREAT VICTORY ! I'M A PROUD AS I CAN BE OF OUR COMMUNITY !
From Deep South Mississippi I wish you all a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
