Greetings,

Currently there are two Civil War exhibits running at the NY Hist. Society in Manhattan.

The first is the "Slavery In New York" exhibit, which continues last year's groundbreaking exhibit on the topic, and it highlight's NY's Civil War Period. Until September.

The second is the "CARRY ME HOME: DISPATCHES FROM THE CIVIL WAR" which includes items from the Society's extensive Civil War archives. Until May.

Co. H of the 119th NY and a few of the men from the 54th Mass. were there last weekend. We were there to speak to the public in first person about our views of the war and the issue of slavery as it applied to the individual soldiers we each portray. The Historical Society posted us around the buliding to interact with the public and it went over very well. We were told by the Societies PR person that is was one of the largest crowds they have ever had in attendance. The exhibits are excellent, one of which is a lottery drum filled with numbered and named chits from the draft. The exhibits are absolutey worth making time to see if you are in the area and don't miss seeing the other sections of the museum esspecially the 4th floor.
