Just returned from a visit to the Natural Bridge Florida battlefield. It is a very small park site but 55 acres containing the 3 sink ponds and major portion of battle site including the union breastworks area is for sale. I wish it could be purchased by the state but we know how likely that is. Anyone looking for a Florida retirement home? JIM HENSLEY

Re: Natural Bridge Florida
That parcel has been for sale for several years now, and from what the park staff told me last year at the reenactment that they hold there, the owners are incrediblly adamant at sticking to a very high selling price to keep the state from getting it to add on to the existing park. It has made me sad for some time, as there are few battlefields in Florida, let alone as pristine as Natural Bridge is. That battlefield holds some great history, as it was the battle that allowed Tallahassee to be the only Confederate capitol east of the Mississippi to not be captured before the end of the war. Yes Jim, that would indeed be a great retirement home!Ross L. Lamoreaux

Re: Natural Bridge Florida
Ross,
I was at the event this year and I overheard someone say the seller is asking something like 6X the fair market value. The good news is that it is my understanding that the zoning there willnot permit any additional buildings on the property. There are apparently two houses and septic systems on that 55 acres and that is all that can be placed there.Robert Collett
