That does sound pretty cool. I would hope that there is something about the overlooked battle of Vaught's Hill around Milton. My Greer family was from the Milton area, the farm was not too far away from the battle. I have often wondered what my grandmother's did and felt while hearing the battle and seeing the troops in this area. I'm sure some thoughts of my Uncle Hardy in the 45th Tenn. came to mind.Of course the Stones River Valley changed hands so many times, war may have became normal to them.sigpic

The hours of operation posted on the website look pretty good, too.
Hours:
Open M-F, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.; Walking tours available on the hour. Group tours available Monday-Saturday by advance reservation.

No admission charged

225 W. College St., Murfreesboro, TN 37130
Directions:
From I-24, exit 81-B, travel toward Murfreesboro to the Public Square. Go through the Square to the next traffic light at College Street, and turn left. The Heritage Center is located in the second block on the left, at the corner of College and Walnut.
