26th NC 2007 Preservation Projecct is Complete

The 26th NC (www.26nc.org) 2007 Preservation Project with the North Carolina Museum of History is now complete as we have finished raisinig the necessary funds to restore the Battle Flag of the 52nd NC...this is the second Battle Flag that the 26th NC has raised the necessary funds (the first was the Battle Flag of our Regiment that was captured at the Battle of Burgess Mill on October 27, 1864)...the Battle Flag of the 52nd NC was captured on July 3, 1863 during the third day's charge...

Our 2008 Preservation Project will be the last of the Pettigrew-Kirkland-McCrae Brigade that the NCMOH owns - the 47th NC...it too was captured at the Battle of Burgess Mill...

Count me in my GGGrandfather was in the 24th Michigan, although he missed Gettysburg due to sunstroke on the march there, he did not miss much else. Wounded at Petersburg in 64. I even have a pic of him in later years with the wound he received. Good cause.
