  • The Civil War Preservation Trust's 2008 List of Most Endangered Battlefields

    Gang,

I think that this year the list of most endangered and threatened battlefields is one of the best looks across the entire scope of the war yet. Sites range from Gettysburg to Fort Monroe to Glorietta Pass. You may find the reasons why (many of which are also the most enraging yet) at http://www.civilwar.org/mebr2008/index.htm.

    The list includes:

    Antietam, Maryland

    Cedar Creek, Virginia

    Cold Harbor, Virginia

    Hunterstown, Pennsylvania

    Monocacy, Maryland

    Natural Bridge, Florida

    Perryville, Kentucky

    Prairie Grove, Arkansas

    Savannah, Georgia

    Spring Hill, Tennessee

    The 15 at risk battlefields:

    Brandy Station, Va.

    Fort Monroe, Va.

    Fort Morgan, Ala.

    Fort Stevens, D.C.

    Glorieta, N.M.

    Hoke’s Run, W.Va.

    Honey Springs, Okla.

    Kennesaw Mountain, Ga.

    Lovejoy’s Station, Ga.

    Mansfield, La.

    Petersburg, Va.

    Richmond, Ky.

    Shepherdstown, W.Va.

    South Mountain, Md.

    Yadkin River Bridge, N.C.
    Sincerely,
