  • Latest News: Fundraiser for Confederate Memorial Hall in New Orleans

A fundraising message from Tim Koehn:

In an effort to raise funds for Confederate Memorial Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana, I have made some bags like the one carried by T. Otis Baker of Mississippi. You can find out more information on the fundraising efforts at this link http://www.confederatemuseum.com/pages/news.html All have handsewn buttonhole with a bone button from Military Warehouse. Attached is a picture of the original and a picture of the copies. There are 2 sizes, large and small. I have 23 large and 10 small available. Large is $15 and small is $10. Shipping will be $3 each. All funds raised will be given to Confederate Memorial Hall. I hope you will help in this endeavor. The museum is presently closed while the Ogden Museum next door builds a tunnel through the basement of CMH. Thanks you for your support. I can be reached at tkoehn44@yahoo.com. I will also have them with me at the Port Hudson, LA reenactment next week if you are attending.

Re: Fundraiser for Confederate Memorial Hall in New Orleans

The Memorial Hall has a 20,000 matching fund grant (or did have about 2 months ago) and needs the matching funds to get this grant. They desperately need the money. Please give generously.

After posting I clicked on the link above and I see they have met their goal a couple of times over. Until tourism picks up they still need the money. Throw some money their way anyway.

This museum has an amazing collection, and I hope everyone can make a contribution, no matter how small, to support them. If you ever have a chance to visit New Orleans, make this one of your first stops, it's directly across from the DDay museum, so finding it is not a problem (although I strongly recommend a cab over hoofing it if you are staying in the Quarter).
If you have every read William Owen's 'In Camp and Battle with the Washington Artillery' you'll remember the saga of his uniform coat, having it 'reversed' for the Petersburg campaign -- they have it in the collection, along with many other great items from the Battalion.

Re: Fundraiser for Confederate Memorial Hall in New Orleans

            Folks,

Now 4 of each are gone. Keep in mind all funds go to Confederate Memorial Hall. I leave for 4 1/2 months on April 30 and would like them all gone by then. Please help. They need all they can get. The changes there will be well worth seeing. Thanks to those who have donated.

Re: Fundraiser for Confederate Memorial Hall in New Orleans

I would like to thank the 5 people who helped out so far. A check was given to the curator this weekend for $127. Thanks. There are still some bags left. Contact Confederate Memorial Hall to get them as I have given the rest of the stock to them. I leave Wednesday for Ft. Eustis, VA. for some Army training. Thanks again.

                    Folks,

I have had a great response this morning. Just remember to contact Confederate Memorial Hall as they now have them. The Curator Pat Ricci will be able to help you. Thanks again.
