I called and talked to the lady taking names. She has mine!

I've attached a picture that hangs on my office door for all to see and generate some commentary. If it can happen at Gettysburg, it can happen at Perryville.

We shall see what happens very soon!

Just called - 3:49 PM - Wednesday. Probably wouldn't hurt to mention when you talk to her whether you have visited the battlefield and/or helped with clean-up. They need to know that they have the potential to lose tourism dollars. :D

I called again a while ago and spoke to a different woman then last. This time I was asked for my name, location, and what Perryville meant to me...she gladly listened for a good 7 minuets or more!
Let's hope the City Council takes into consideration what we have said and has the smarts to reject the P & Z approval!

Thanks for the call to arms! The responses echoed here are encouraging.

Called yesterday afternoon. Got VM, so left my name and #, and a brief message explaining what a special, beautiful place Perryville is- the battlefield AND the town.

Explained that though I am from out of state (MO), I've visited P-ville numerous times in the past, enjoyed staying, dining and shopping there with my family ($$), and look forward to future visits.

Closed by thanking them, and stressing what a critical moment this is for the battlefield, and all who care about it. Once development creeps upon or adjacent to hallowed ground like Perryville, it's there forever.

Just got through @ 10:34am PST. The lady answering the phone was very nice, if rather frazzled sounding. For those of you with school-age and older children, have them call as well. Nothing is more powerful then the voice of a child. These monuments are their legacy and must be protected for them and future generations.
