  • A Call to Arms! Please Help Fort Monroe

I don't want to take away from the current efforts on the Perryville campaign, but I thought I'd post about another time sensitive matter:

APVA and CWPT have placed Ft. Monroe on it's hit list of endangered historic sites. If you have a moment, please take time to visit this website below. If you feel as I (and others) do that Ft. Monroe is in danger, please write, call, donate and help us with this fight.

For more information, please click the official website of the Citizens for a Fort Monroe National Park http://www.cfmnp.org/

Thank you, I owe each of you a debt of thanks for taking the time to learn about this effort.

      Re: Please Help Fort Monroe

I sent an e-mail to both Virginia Senators and both New York Senators. I have also contacted some members of Congress. It only takes a moment of time to send a quick note to our Representatives and Sentators to voice our opinion and they will never know about our numbers and our convictions if we don't contact them. The more e-mails and phone calls they receive the more likely they are to do something about it. Please take a moment to contact your Congress people and Senators about this and all other preservation issues. If we all make comments we can make a difference.

        Another looming disaster.

How did that March 21 meeting of the Port Authority go?

          Paul,

Are you referring to the meeting for Governors Island? If so the meeting went okay. There were a many more people speaking for the Theater and they imported school kids in uniforms to read statements from theater supporters that could not attend. There were several people from the LH commuity there all speaking from the heart and men that served on the Island and their now grown children speaking as well. We don't know the outcome yet but we will keep everyone posted. This Fort Monroe problem seems very similar. BTW, E-mails also sent about Perryville. We are getting attacked from all side here.
