  • ACPP is no more

    All,

It is with much regret that I have to shut down the Authentic Campaigner Preservation Project.

Due to a rule imposed by PayPal, I cannot accept unauthorized donations through their service. The ACPP was set up as a middle man to collect donations from preservation minded living historians and all donations (in full) have been sent to their intended organizations.

I have requested the remaining funds in my account to be transferred to my account as usual and will send the amounts to the organizations when the funds are available.

I want to thank Paul and the admins for allowing me to run the ACPP here on the website and all the vendors who donated goods to the cause. I also want to thank all of the donors in the past who have raised a good bit of money for the cause.

I encourage you all to continue to donate directly to any battlefield preservation organization as the fight continues against development on the sacred grounds around the country.

The March raffle winners will be announced as scheduled at the end of the month.

Thanks for having done this, Dusty. A good bit of money was raised and I know that you, all of us who contributed, made a difference.

Thanks for your work in this worthy endeavor. As Eric said, some good cash was raised and sent to a good cause(s)

Thank you very much for all you have done concerning ACPP.

            Dusty-

Thank you for all the good work that you've done for preservation. Though the ACPP is no more, there is still a need and still ways everyone can participate.

Perhaps the ACPP can become a page within the AC site. This page would have links that would take the user directly to the donation pages (most 501s have them) of the respective projects or museums. (MOC, SCCRR, Memorial Hall, CWPT).

Again, Dusty, thank you and we hope you keep up the interest in preservation with other methods and technologies.

            Sincerely,

            Greg Starbuck

              Greg,

Great ideas on the pointing of preservation pages elsewhere on the web.

Once I get my good standing back with PayPal, I'll look into it.

We rec'd the check from the ACPP, thank you kindly.

As promised before, I'll post pics showing how we utilized the funds.

                  Brilliant idea Greg.

Dusty, beyond even the large amount of funds collected for the most worthy of causes, your hard work promoting those causes through the ACPP has been a huge benefit. Greg's idea will ensure that good work will continue on here. Sometimes all it takes is providing a couple of clicks to make donating easier, and this will do it.

Thank you so much Dusty. Obviously PayPal does not know you like we do.

                    Dusty,

Not many remember this, but "$5 every time." :)

Not to toot any horns, but I'm proud to say our own preservation fundraising for Season 2008 came in at approximately $34,000, which is not bad considering the state of the economy, etc. Every dollar helps, especially when that local match is leveraged manifold with state and federal dollars. Not to be a pessimist, but I don't know if we'll ever have another $90,000 weekend at a fairly complex living history, as we did in 2003, but one never knows.

Frankly, I always thought the IRS would get to you before PayPal. ;)

                      In trouble no more...........

Thanks to some good guys, after my three month "battle" with PayPal, my account has been placed back in good standing. Unfortunately, I still can't take donations through PayPal, so I'm looking into the ACPP being a posting board for preservation causes with organizations getting an information page in case folks are looking to send in some of that extra money we all have lying around.

Look for updates later this summer.
