  • 2008 ACPP has begun

Since Paul Calloway allowed me to start the Authentic Campaigner Preservation Project in 2004, the ACPP has raised over $12,000 for preservation efforts of the following organizations:

Central Virginia Battlefield Trust - $2502.00
Save the Franklin Battlefield - $1441.00
Museum of the Confederacy - $920.00
    Beauvoir - $650.00
South Carolina Conferate Relic Room - $1358.00
Civil War Preservation Trust - $5078.96

    Total - $12,054.96

Thanks to Paul and Matt for allowing me to try to raise money for preservation using this wonderful site. It has been an honor to serve these men in the moderator capacity for these years.

In 2008, I'm going to continue raising moneyfor the CWPT and the SCCRR's McRae Papers collection. While the number of donors and the amount collected has decreased every year since the project's inception, I'm optimistic that 2008 will be a good year and we will be able to raise a combined $3,000 for the CWPT and SCCRR. With the impeding release of portions of the McRae Papers here on the forum, isn't it worth it to you to send even $5 to have the first look at this collection?

My email has changed this year to dustyswb@verizon.net, so you can use Paypal or send a check made out to the CWPT or SCCRR directly to the organization or to me at:

As always, give if you can and I hope everyone has a safe and pleasant 2008. If you have any questions, please PM me here on the forum or send an email to dustyswb@verizon.net.

$12,000 is darn impressive, and I have no doubt the recipients greatly appreciate the efforts of everyone who made donations. Thank you, Dusty, for all your efforts in managing the ACPP. Let's keep it going and make 2008 a good showing for the CWPT and SCCRR.

        Folks,

The admins of the A/C have graciously sent the second $500 donation from the paid membership program. This donation will also be sent to the SCCRR and the McRae papers.

Thanks to Paul and the crew.

            Dusty,

I just donated a little money to the ACPP. I wish I could donate more to such a worthy cause!

                Last chance...............

With a little under four weeks left in the year, we are at $3,354.95 donated through the ACPP in 2008. This is in large part to the $2,000 from ACPP membership dues that Paul donated. Thanks again.

With gas prices down, maybe we can come together and get the $145.05 needed to round this off to $3,500 for the year. I know money is tight right now and if we don't get it, we've done a good job, but even if everyone send $5, it would be great. The recession has driven down property values so now is a good time to buy land for the CWPT.

Hope you all enjoy the holidays.

Then that means just 110.05 left to go.

Cough some up people. Even if its just the nickle. Help hit the goal, and round it off to a nice number. :)

                        Mike,
I just sent you the $115, via PayPal, that you needed to attain your donation goal of $3,500 for the ACPP in 2008. If possible could some of the money be used to help preserve a battlefield where the 2nd Wisconsin fought? I am making the donation in the name of a friend...Dave Dresang....who is a dedicated reenactor and SUVCW brother who is very ill with a brain tumor.
                        Regards,
