Re: Vote For the June Cover

While all the entries are very good #1 just has that look. I also think with a bit more "aging" work #4 could also have "it" as the posing is very similar to photos from that period. Great job all!

While Im very excited about images One and Two. While I enjoy image one and its very smiliar to a number of LOC images; Chris's image, his vision and his documentation is awesome. Number two gets it. Although we've been very civilian orinented lately, I think its a nice change of pace. Congrats to everyone for nice plates.

Well, since I've already lost the vote to you:D, I don't mind asking if we should have urinated on our buttons as well to make it more aged in appearance? This is a real, live tintype, taken on a camera made in 1855 in an outdoor setting with available light, and unless some anachronisms in our gear can be pointed out, I don't know what 'aging' will do to improve it.

As to the inspiration, it was really just an on the spot decision to pose like that, inspired by who-knows-which LOC, AC, etc. photo swimming in our minds. I think it's a great picture, and although I'm very pleased by it, the competition is fierce, and it's an honor to be competing against such a great slew of photos.

        Respectfully,

That's pretty funny. It may have to be aged urine though.

All are excellent. Kudos to all that participated.

I went with #1 finally, but it was a tough choice. It just seems to me that #1 came right out of a history book. I'm still not sure it wasn't, heh.

Joe, I'm sorry if I said something you found offensive as that was not my intent. I actually thought I was being complimentary saying your print was a very strong 2nd choice to me. I guess I only showed my ignorance as I didn't know any of the pictures were taken on period cameras. We do live in a digital age.

Again, I thought all the pictures were outstanding and I'm sorry If I offended anyone with my comments.

                    Joe,
One of the requirements for photos to even be eligible for this little vote is that they be "taken with period technology only." Digital enhancements and alterations are not an option. That bit of understanding may help you to view the archive of past winners and current contestants in a new light. ;-)

Congratulations to Brian Chastain for his winning image submission this month. Thanks to all who participated. I will have the new cover up tonight, since I will be in the wilds of Georgia over the weekend.

We will ask for new submissions on June 20th. Watch this folder for the announcement.

                      This poll is officially closed.
