    Vote For the June Cover

    Greetings Everyone:

    It is time to vote for the June Cover of the Authentic Campaigner. This month, because of a tie in the initial vote, we have four finalists.

    Please vote for the image that you feel is the most authentic. If your image is one of the final three, we require that you provide some background information about the inspiration or impression for the image in this thread.

    We encourage conversation about the impressions portrayed as well as any documentation that might be available that would add to the discussion. The intent of the selection process is to determine why you think one image is superior to another.

      I'm not sure voting for someone who makes nice things is quite reason enough, however much I agree with the sentiment,but I will agree that the image of Chris as the woodworker brings to mind the many laborer/skilled worker/craftmen images out there that you just don't see many being reproduced by those who strike images these days. It is a convincing image, and knowing Chris as well as I do, the tools are right for the period, the pose is done in a period manner, and well, the deciding factor was the overalls for me - you've got one heck of a tailor Mr. Henderson. This month will probably prove to be a close race.

        #2 gets my vote.I always want to feel I'm looking through Miller's and while #1 is very nice the guns reminded me of the 1/2 scale pieces in the N-SSA. So 2 brings me "there" !

          Well since I'm in the running, I've got to share my inspiration. The photo by Wendell Decker is based on a few original images of wood workmen and carpenters I have found over the past few years. The tools are all original to either the mid or early 1800's. as a matter of fact, the spokeshave that I'm holding is almost 200 years old, in great condition and gets used regularly (and is sharp enough to shave with:D).

                A very, very hard choice I must say, they are all so wonderful, its a toss up between 1 and 4 for me.

                  #1 is a solid photo - I really like the field composition.

                  However, Chris' is not only well posed, crafted etc. but gives us a literal snapshot of something we do not see recreated all that often - #2 all the way.

                    Totally beside the point, but the N-SSA long ago banned 1/2 scale pieces. It is now full scale only, with a very few "grandfathered" pieces still in existance.

                    My vote was image #1 with the full scale bronze mountain howitzers like these http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/...56sf=02495:@@@ .

                      The votes are close again. Strong work by everyone. #1, and #2 are very good. Can we do a split cover? Number two gets my vote after much self debating. I guess the tie breaker for me is the fact that I am enjoying the solid civilian impressions that the fine members here are doing. But all 4 photos are great. Keep it up this is great!:)

                            Photo #2 is tops in my book. Chris did a great job with the props and it looks very very convincing. Good job!
