  • What do you have the most of?

I have talked to several reenactors and they all admit that they collect something. Whether its guns, hats, or clothes, it seems that many reenactors tend to collect something ;)

I don't collect or consciously work to accumulate any particular type of item... however... in the course of working to enable myself to comply with the impression standards for the many different events I have been to, I have a rather large selection of uniform clothing items, both Federal and Confederate, Eastern and Western Theater, Early, Mid and Late War, etc.

Guns because I ted to pick them up cheap and pass them onto others. Have six at the moment. Thinking about it though I have more instruments than guns. Bugles, Violins, drums etc but again this is a progression and I tend to lend and pass on.
      Hats came a close third.

I've got a lot of Jackets/coats. It turns out that I really like to topstitch/buttonstitch/whipstitch etc and see the finished product! My real obsession has always been overcoats and other cold weather clothing. I'm getting close in the hat department however.

          Hi,

For me it would have to be clothing: 6 jackets( mixture of Federal, civilian, and Confederate), 5 shirts, 3 trousers, 2 drawers, and a hand full of socks. I am working on getting more equipment, but I have enought hats for awhile ( wheel cap, Federal forage cap, 2 civilian slouch hats, and a Confederate issue kepi):D.

            Hello
I am in agreement with Mr. Hicks, research and preperation bring me to either buying or making uniforms that fit the impression I am portraying. I do however have a passion for studying the uniforms from the different eras, theatres, army's etc.

My closet is no longer big enough, it is now a room cluttered with gear, jackets, hats, and boots/shoes.

Since "tools" wasn't on there, I had to go with "other". I started collecting mid 19th C. tools about three years ago and haven't stopped. Most that I get are to use out in the shop. Every now and then I'll come across one that I can't use due to deterioration of the tool so I'll clean it up and either make it serviceable or resell it. Just bought 2 Barlow knives the other day and a 2 foot folding rule (that one's a gem!)

From the proud to have/ashamed to admit department: I own 31 various jackets/coats/overcoats. Both armies and civilian. I just can't help myself!

Knapsacks. Knapsacks, knapsacks, knapsacks. I dunno why. I even like the word..."knapsacks". Got 14 of them, 12 different ones (three different types of doublebags) from 3 time periods (Rev War, 1812, and, of course...). I made the Lherbette just 'cause I got a pattern, and I could. I don't even do 1812!!

I collect guns. Last time my wife counted I had 41. ;)
I also collect military vehicles of which I have a 1943 Willys MZ-12 USMC Radio Jeep of which only 1200 were made and very few survived the war. Right now there are only six known MZ-12's known to exist.

                      I also have a 1951 GMC M-135 6X6.
