WOW, it's been awhile since I've seen all three look so good. I had to bring in a third opinion on this one and we went with #3.

      Eric,

This month I’m considering a critical assessment of opossum decorated Mayan anthropomorphic polychrome earthenware cylinders.

          Hi,

Image 2# is a very cool looking photo. It looks very close to several original images of Civil War fifers and drummers. The picture is set up almost exactly like the one on page 226 CS EOG. Thanks for posting it.

This was a VERY good contest! I was thrown this time...I had to result to several picture books to make up my mind. In the end, number one seemed a little too posed for a field shot....yes, I know, lots of period images were posed...and this IS a very good image...but I had to try and find something wrong with something to find my pick. I like two. To me, picture two illustrates the brotherhood formed on campaign...It looks like the two fellows in the image know each other well and decided to have their likeness taken. Lookes posed as well, but the guys photographed seem to have more of a natural look of friends. Pic three was another fantastic photo! Very good image...loved the array of footwear and the different patterns of hobnails. I like the details...but, something about number two just has the feel of the read deal!

Image number three was taken at Kearney Park Fresno by William Dunniway. It was my first time out in the ranks in quite some time, and it was a lot of fun hangin' out with my old mess mates again. William "Native" Picking had decorated his ground cloth some time back with an eagle, just in case anyone was questioning his patriotism:wink_smil. We're known for our zealous love of the Union (the worlds greatest hope for democracy) and we wanted to have a picture taken that captured a little of that sentiment. We were portraying a typical bunch of Western Feds 1864.

I am personally in favor of photo number 2. The photo resembles that of many civil war era photos. Number 3 photo looks very scary.

Being a fellow westcoaster I have to go for #3. Besides that Mr. Dunniway makes great photos. I like the western impression...a nice change from what I tend to see at events.

Image #1 was me and my pard taken during theHodge preservation march in Loudoun County, VA the first weekend in Novemember. I can certainly tell you we were tired that was taken about half way thru the march on Saturday in the small little town of Unison, VA by Todd Harrington. We were going for a posed but on campaign look I guess you could say. We couldn't decide if we wanted a studio shot or "in the field" shot so we kind of mixed the two.

                          Well folks
No. 2 it is. The others look great. But I appreciate the contrast no 2 has. We often do not feature music. As previously said the image on page 226 of EOG is one of my favorites and I believe it does that photo great justice (even without the Sicilian Hats). I enjoy the studio feel. It is not only the fellas but the photographers quality, it is focused and clean. Just a great image all around. Great job fellas.
