Re: Vote For the January Cover of the AC

I can understand why a fellow would vote for his friends or a photo he was in, and I can understand why Banjo Carl, a former Ground Hornet would not vote for one of his former comrads. I understand, but don't forgive. But, Doug, if you are captured in the Kistachie woods, you will not be treated as a prisoner of war, but as a traitor! It is written and so it will be, and anyone that knows the Ground Hornets know that we do not make idle threats and keep our promises.

Good images but I went with No. 3 for a couple of reasons. I like Cody's explanation of what he was trying to duplicate, especially since it's a representation of an organization that most people have never heard of. And I also think it would be nice to have some Trans-Miss stuff on the cover since it tends to get overlooked a bit in the hobby just like it did in real life.

I'm also afraid that Tom will get me in the deep dark woods if I don't vote for #3.

For those who are interested, I have updated the AC Covers Archive Page, which contains forty-eight archived covers. There will be an announcement soon for something a little different for selecting the 50th cover.

        Here is the current update:

Here is an idea for something a little different. A Trans-MS Cover. Just one out of 50 to show some proportion.

[QUOTE=Spinster;130227]And to add to that, Cody's quick with chickens too--as Cami and her Mamma noted on the phone last night "That feller in the picture is the one who bought one of my chickens, and knew what to do with it. Some of the men didn't"

            Ms. Lawson,
The boys still rag on me for popping the neck of that chicken in front of that little girl...but I reason that she knew what she was doing when she accepted that paper money.

We think the petticoat more suitable for them in these times.

              Cody,

You did exactly the thing that would have been done in period. We were surprised that more men did not take advantage of the opportunity for a meal. Those who 'acquired' chickens and then did not seem to know what to do with them, saw them reclaimed--the prime reason we had chickens left to transport home.

Folks that impose modern sensibilities on normal period occurances are, well,,,

And Cami is no hothouse-raised flower: she can rope and ride, has won flint and steel fire making timed open competitions, and recently spent a full week working dyepots with me, and aiding with livestock on the same historic site. I was VERY impressed with her quiet competence, eagerness to learn, ability to follow complicated instructions, and deal with assembled groups of modern schoolchildren near to her own age, while maintaining her period character.

On this subject, if we could find bigger that a chicken for IPW, I know not me? A beef, a horse, a bayou yeti, etc.?
But 10 000 km just for one chicken... :) ;)

                      Cody Chocking his Chicken

Well I tend to agree, Cody goes ALL out in his impressions! His prowess with deer and chickens is well known, as is what he does with all the local sheep! :confused_

But that aside, I voted for him anyway so that we can burn up as much of his 15 minutes of fame as possible! ;)

Boys, Girls, Ladies, Gentlemen, and those of you from Texas,

It seems that #3 has fallen back a bit. Now if you go read all the threads, #3 should be in first place.

Now, I have gone back and talked to my Creoles, Cajuns, Rednecks, and Ex-LSU Fans, I think we could pull another 20 votes, if...

                          Dale,

You really ought to look more closely at Cody's shoes the next time you see him. Then the answer to such questions would be evident.
