Re: Vote For the January Cover of the AC
After looking at the images and reading through the responses, i ended up going with number three but folks, there's something you have to remember. This voting thing is a two part process. Yeah, you can have a kick ass image up for consideration and you can be strutting your totally hardkewl stuff in your image which made it to the final three but when it comes down to it (for me, anyway) if you don't hold up your share of the agreement, you shouldn't be in the running ie: putting up the reasoning, historical basis for the image in question. I have seen in months past that people got voted up for a great image and didn't put up any background on their image and they ended up beating out folks who went into depth on the subject matter, composition, and who took the image. Granted, you should put this info up when you're submitting your image in the beginning but not many people go back to when you originally submitted your image to see the details on your historical basis and this is a site where we pride ourselves on the research we do- this carries over into the way we carry ourselves at events and the images we leave for posterity. Basically what it boils down to, for me anyway, is the one that gets my vote isn't just the best out of the lot but it's also the one that is able to back their image up with historical basis for the pose or details about the uniform and equipage.
I'm off my soapbox now.....and if I can find an original soapbox to measure, perhaps I'll start reproducing those so folks can have something to stand on! :wink_smil
