  • Wanna Be on the April Cover of the AC?

    Greetings Everyone:

Well, it is the 20th of the month. So, the question is, "Do You Wanna Be on the April Cover of the Authentic Campaigner?"

We are looking for images that best-exemplify the look of the authentic living historian. Images taken with period technology only are required (wet plate, pencil drawing, field sketches, etc.) Please refrain from submitting an image that you have submitted within the last year. We are continuously looking for fresh images and have a few days to gather the candidates. Thanks!

    Submission Guidelines:

    1) We will accept the first ten image submissions only. The thread will be closed after the tenth image is submitted, and any images submitted after the tenth will be deleted from the thread.

    2) Once we have ten images, the staff will select the final three. The final three will then be put up for a general vote to the membership of the forum. The winning image will be placed on the front "cover" of the web site for one month.

    3) Make sure and attach the photo to your post. If necessary, we will crop the photo for the best fit.

    4) The Moderators/Administrators reserve the right to remove any submittals that they feel don't meet the standards of the Authentic Campaigner.

Now, let's see your best images!

    Pards,

This is a tintype of the Obejoyful Mess at the Olustee Florida event this year. The Image was struck by the gentleman of the Victorian Photography of Gettysburg Pennsylvania(sorry I can't recall his name.)

    Hope you enjoy our image.

The Breckinridge Greys portraying Confederate dead after the battle of Perryville. The scary thing is there are more bodies in the photo then what was actually there! Photograph by Wendell Decker.

Something about this image has always struck me - the war-weary look of a sergeant on campaign. This image of Dave Sullivan of Holmes Brigade was taken in May 2008 by Robert Szabo at Stand of Colors.

Re: Wanna Be on the April Cover of the AC?

I'm posting an image of myself and my good pard, Don Smith, that we had made in September of 2007 by Mr. Rob Szabo. We are portraying soldiers/fighters of the "forgotten war"; i.e. the guerllia war that took place in the Trans-Mississippi from 1863 - 1865. Don has wanted to post this photo for consideration for many, many months, but I guess his work schedule prevents him from doing so in time. So, here you go Don, this post's for you!
