  • Wanna Be on the May Cover of the AC?

    Greetings Everyone:

Well, it is the 20th of the month. So, the question is, "Do You Wanna Be on the May Cover of the Authentic Campaigner?"

We are looking for images that best-exemplify the look of the authentic living historian. Images taken with period technology only are required (wet plate, pencil drawing, field sketches, etc.) Please refrain from submitting an image that you have submitted within the last year. We are continuously looking for fresh images and have a few days to gather the candidates. Thanks!

    Submission Guidelines:

    1) We will accept the first ten image submissions only. The thread will be closed after the tenth image is submitted, and any images submitted after the tenth will be deleted from the thread.

    2) Once we have ten images, the staff will select the final three. The final three will then be put up for a general vote to the membership of the forum. The winning image will be placed on the front "cover" of the web site for one month.

    3) Make sure and attach the photo to your post. If necessary, we will crop the photo for the best fit.

    4) The Moderators/Administrators reserve the right to remove any submittals that they feel don't meet the standards of the Authentic Campaigner.

Now, let's see your best images!

I am submitting this month for the Dippin Gourd Mess, an image struck at South Union, Ky by Tim Parson in March at our Drill Weekend. This is image is titled "From Vicksburg to Raliegh" as we are representing the the early 12th Indiana before they received their zouave jackets in 63' and 64'. As many of you know or dont..we are portraying the 12th Indiana at Bummers 09 in the issue zouave uniform. That image will come later...and now

I've been like a hawk on the Forum today..

My discourage from not making last February's submission prompted me to try to shoot for a later date instead. I explained to some pards this weekend that May is Asian-Pacific Islander month. I'm not trying to further enhance my submission for this reason, I just thought I'd give it a shot in lieu of it.

That dorky sitter (er, stander) is myself; the image was done by R. J. Szabo in October 2008.

This picture was taken by Sarah Burns at Richmond,KY last year. This was the second image she ever took. She took it on Wendell Decker's camera. From what Wendell said, she did a nearly perfect job.BTW,she's only ten years old.
This is just a simply 1863 western Federal impression.Of course, the subject is of yours truly.

This image was taken at Infirmary Mound Park in 2004 and it contains the following forum myself (center kneeling the dew messed up the brim of my hat) Mark Kraus, and Jason Kraus. It is a contingent of the Prodigal Sons Mess and the Devils Own Mess (of the 64th OVI) and it is of a basic mid to late war western federal impression.

If I didnt attach the photo right I apologize
