Re: Pre-War/Early-War Firearms Poll
Hallo!
I have a repro 1854/55ish Harpers Ferry M1841 alteration, a repro Harpers Ferry 1858ish alteration, and a repro 1861 Colt contract M1841 alteration.
And a repro M1842 with an original Springfield lock.
I had a repro M1822 redone/reworked/remade with the Belgian conversion but I stupidly sold it in a moment of weakness.
I assume the poll was not about repro P1853 3rd Model Enfield type guns...

Re: Pre-War/Early-War Firearms Poll
I have a Belgian 69 caliber rifle musket. It looks a lot like a '42, except for the hammer.
That's about the only "early war" musket I have.
Hey Curt,
Got any pics of those US M1841's??? I'd love to see 'em!!

Re: Pre-War/Early-War Firearms Poll
Repro 1842 for me. Bought it used from a gentleman from New Jersey who was gettin out of the hobby. Believe he was a member of the Columbia Rifles. He took absolutely immaculate care of the thing, Im not sure if I even want to bring out into the elements.Mike Dudkowski

Re: Pre-War/Early-War Firearms Poll
I have a repro 1842, it was sold in crap condition and in a hurry by someone giving up his Licence for £50, or about $100. Been a damn good gun. Only dislike is it's really heavy. All said it was a real good impulse buy!!
I also have a repro 2 barreled shotgun, in percussion!
Does that count?[B][I]Christian Sprakes

Re: Pre-War/Early-War Firearms Poll
I have a 1833 Springfield I can convert to flint from percussion if need be. I got a lock with original pan from Lodgewood and simply added the repro flint parts to the lock. I also got a pristine untapped barrel from Lodgewood too. I simply lined up the pan with the barrel, tapped the hole and had a flintlock!!!
To reconvert to percussion, I simply take the inside "guts" that were original to the Belgian conversion Springfield lock, add them back on the lock itself, add the percussion barrel to the wood and within 5 minutes or so, I have a percussion musket.
I was L-U-C-K-Y and I mean LUCKY to get a barrel and lock that fit the wood and bands plus original bayonet of my percussion musket.James Ross
