Re: Vote For the May Cover of the AC

If and when I vote for the monthly cover, I never chime in and say why I voted for whom, etc. But, this time around I've got to say that I voted for #3. All too often, these modern wet plate images just look like a bunch of reenactors getting a wet plate image made. However, this month the #3 image does not look like three reenactors having their image made. The attention to detail, the fact that all three have period hair styles, they are thin and not over weight, they are all under the age of 40 ... it just works, and when it all comes together, it's a rare and glorious thing. Good job guys on your impressions.

The boys in #3 did everything but hang out a sign that says: "Bartow County Yankee Killers" - well done!

Yes indeed! Rather than looking like reenactors posed for a cool photo, these fellars look like the real McCoy. Well done says I!

                Thanks for the kind words!

Our image (number three) was based loosely on that of the Chitwood brothers, but with a few variations.

Oh , and matt, I can't wait for you to get back from egypt, we'll have to get an image taken!

I didn't submit #2, even tho I'm in it, but I'd like to compare it to this image.

But wow, 3 looks like so many images that are published of brothers going to war. Some good ones this month.

#3 is it for this month. I'm still not convinced these are modern men. Who are they and is there a website about their unit? Very interesting photo, very real looking, not overdone. My slouch hat is off to these men! Would like to see more of them!

Though I normally have a federal bias when I vote, I thought #3 was exceptional and reminded me of many images of confederates going off to war.
