    Dusty,

So having FREE access to the National Military Park at Gettysburg is akin to welfare???

Maybe someone has the figures on the former Visitor's Center, and how poorly it must have been run, how inefficient the structure was...of course it's evident that intelligent design was included in the new visitor center with sheet metal siding and Expansive Glass Walls (I wonder what their R-value is...I'm guessing not much)...yep...that affects opperating costs...think of all those hard-earned $$$$$$$ just being pissed away in the Summer (Cooling Costs) and Winter (Heating Costs)...

Was there room to improve in the former Visitor's Center (ABSOLUTELY, there always is)...was this the solution...I'm seriously doubting that...

It's fair to charge for the Visitor's Center at Gettysburg, because the wax museum has charged fees for years??

Worded like you did, those who can't afford entry will not be able to enjoy the collection, yes, it would be a subsidy to let "less fortunate" people in.

This thread has long ago wore out its usefulness. The fee is the fee, you are not commanded to go into the visitor center, go on the battlefield, view the collection, like any government, etc.

Take these political arguments to another forum, Authentic-Campaigner isn't it.
