3 is a pretty tight image of western feds on campaign. Good back drop and their was a lot more put into it than your typical mess picture.

For those of you interested in Preservation. Number 1 was taken at Old Bethpage Village Restoration Village in New York. This is a great joy to have this museum saved and open, as we Long Islanders can recall the campaign to save the Village a few months ago.

The church is restored to 1857, and was the first building moved to the Nassau County park in the 1960s. It was originally located on Old Country Road, not far from the museum's present location. The architecture follows alot from the Greek Revival style, popular throughout the US during the nineteenth century.

The attached photo is of the church's "moving day", from the archives of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library.

Wow!!!!!, I thought it looked familiar.................Now I know why I liked imge #1 so much. :) I loved Old Bethpage Village as a kid growing up in Massapequa on Long Island. I partially attribute my love for living history today from visiting Old Bethpage Village with my parents and on field trips close to thirty years ago now. I am so glad it was saved recently. I look forward to returning there one day. Thanks for sharing that image as well. I knew it was moved but I never saw that picture before.

Although all the submissions were great I had to go with number one since it is our "home field". Not only is it a good image. the photographer, Dell, had to run over 200 yards twice to get the image done. The Menetto Hill church was set up as a field hospital that day for a medical impression. Incidentally, it is still an active church as we still have services, weddings, baptisims, etc. there on occasion. Great place and a great image.

Cheers to Marc and Jason for directing a very well thought out image (image #1). Of course I applaud Dell's work as well. It clearly appears to be from the period while encompassing different aspects of life back then through the diversity and talents of folks in our hobby today. Pretty cool! I certainly appreciated being asked to be a part of it and despite the fact that I am in it I think this image has to be one of the best I have ever seen.

Old Bethpage is a very special place and a haven for many artists for good reason. I am sure that Dell appreciated what the Museum had to offer him as much as any of the people who were portraying the military. Old Bethpage is still up and running and for that I have to credit all of you for took part in keeping it so. Without the efforts that we all make to save places like this we don't get to do cool stuff like this.

            Cheers,
            Rob Weber

A special shout out, too, goes to our friend Catherine Molanphy for portraying the oft-seen but sorely under-represented "out-of-focus-window-hanger-outer"! (That's alot of hyphens.)

Wonderful pics to choose from this month! All of them are well done

I personally like No.2. It is an exceptional trade image, & has a very real feel to it.

I applaud Marc and company for thier work on #1. I chose #3, due to the fact that I appreciate a great, western federal impression in the field. Good job to all!

                        Sorry for not posting sooner.

Image 2 was done by Todd Harrington at Westville last October. The composition was inspired by images of everyday people doing everyday things. We just happened to be working in the woodshop and had a few minutes to put this one together before we nailed the cross and plaque on the lid of the coffin. My favorite part of this one is how it looks like Dylan Franklin (my apprentice) was coming out of the back door of the shop and was just kinda caught in time.

The subjects are Gary Bergstrom, Dylan Franklin and myself.
