  • Wanna Be on the October Cover?

    Greetings Everyone:

Well, it is the 20th of the month, so the question is, "Wanna Be on the October Cover of the Authentic Campaigner?"

We are looking for images that best-exemplify the look of the authentic living historian. Images taken with period technology only are required (wet plate, pencil drawing, field sketches, etc.) Again, please, no "images of the dead" this month. We have had two "dead" covers recently and that is plenty for a while.

    Submission Guidelines:

    1) We will accept the first ten image submissions only. The thread will be closed after the tenth image is submitted, and any images submitted after the tenth will be deleted from the thread.

    2) Once we have ten images, the staff will select the final three. The final three will then be put up for a general vote to the membership of the forum. The winning image will be placed on the front "cover" of the web site for one month.

    3) Make sure and attach the photo to your post. If necessary, we will crop the photo for the best fit.

    4) The Moderators/Administrators reserve the right to remove any submittals that they feel don't meet the standards of the Authentic Campaigner.

Now, let's see your best images!

Members of the Breckinridge GreysPortraying Jack May's Confederate Kentucky Mounted Rifles Battalion during April 1863(Department of Eastern Kentucky and Southwest Virginia). Complete with Captured federal fatigue blouses, that the regiment had been documented wearing at that time. Wetplate by Wendell Decker.

Never really planned on having it struck, but as a pard had just gotten his made Del said hey just sit down in that chair, I took off my hat sat down and he did it.
I liked doing a civilian image, although it took a week to get all that pomade out of my hair! :tounge_sm

And we have our ten images. Sorry Travis, but yours is the 11th. You can re-submit next month. Thanks to everyone who submitted. We will now narrow down the choices to the final three and have a vote up in a few days.
