  • AC needs a by-line

I really like, "For the discriminating reenactor," but I'm afraid some people may get the wrong idea.

Anyone else have an idea for a by-line that we can use for the AC?

    Maybe, It's the authenticity, stupid.

Mr. Donovan- Welcome to the AC Forum. Please take a step backwards and reconsider why you are here, what you hope to accomplish, and the impact of your attempted humor. If you feel that you can contribute positively to this Forum, we look forward to your future posts.

I'm beginning to get the distinct feeling that we need to change your name to StreamerBoyDonovan. Everything I've seen you post has screamed, "I'm a mainstreamer". That's all well and good, and we welcome folks interested in improving their impressions... but we don't welcome the mainstream mantra that they sometimes like to bring with them.

          Re: AC needs a by-line

          Hallo Kameraden!

I do not think it is so much as a single name or title, as the "CW Community" exists in so many umbrella forms and levels in the first place- and few agree on the meanings and definitions of "labels."

I would think a "mission statement" as to what this Forum:

          1. is about, (or is not about)
          2. what it hopes to accomplish
          3. and how it plans to go about achieving No. 1 and 2

would be of greater information and service to those looking for serious discussion, sharing of sources and resources, sharing and analyzing research, a place to give voice to academic/scholarly ideas and discussion, promoting individual learning, growth, and evolution, etc.

            Curt -
I can dig it, and I agree about the mission statement.. but I still hope for a by-line... a one liner that I can put in italics somewhere.

Wow!!! Our motto for the CWCivilian list is very close to that!! Great minds must think alike. I think Glenna Chirsten or Barbara Huffman came up with ours... "Accuracy is a process, not a final destination." The only problem with the "Its all about the original soliders" idea is that some civilians may think its a military only list. :wink_smil

Being the simplistic sort that I am, how about either:

                        "Because It's RIGHT, Dammit" or

                        "Period, Everyday, and Common"

                          Here's my two cents worth:

                          "It's all about the history"

                          "Because history matters"

"If it's not right, it's wrong"

                          and the ever popular

"Where historical accuracy is the name of the game".

                          I am creatively spent.

Maybe Bent's would like that add better.
