    Re: Monthly Cover Announcement

You did a lot to share our work and I'm sure we are all grateful. I know I am. You kept our names out there. You helped keep us alive. I thank you, Sir

Enjoy your new son and come back with him dressed in the Blue Wool when he's old enough. I bet that might inject some new energies in the hobby for you. :)

Thanks for all you have done here and for the hobby in general.

That, sir, is the great paradox of volunteer organizations. You enjoy it to a level of obligation, you witness the anguish of organizing, and soon it ceases to be either voluntary or fun.

                Eric,

Thank you very much for the important work you've done here. I'll miss voting on the covers and seeing the effort people here put into recreating period photography.

Having started this hobby single, and now being married with two small children, I can certainly appreciate how difficult it becomes to balance things, and all in a way I didn't think would occur. I told my wife that I planned on continuing reenacting after marriage in just the same way as I was accustomed, but soon it became clear where my truest allegiance was owed, and that made it an easy decision. I myself am not burned out on reenacting, but no longer can I go to every event unless I want discord at home. I do not want discord at home.

                Fare thee well, and thanks.

                Respectfully,

Eric - while I hope you don't leave, rest assured you moved the bar up, way up. For that I hope you draw great satisfaction as we all begin our GAR reenacting careers.

                          Eric,

Great job and wishing you and your family all the best. It is hard for the individual with a young and growing family to participate in our hobby financially and time wise. Your family is only young once and enjoy every second they are with you. I have always said they are bascially two reenactors..the young unmarried or no children fellow and us older more mature fellows whose family has grown.

This is a reason why it has been so hard to sustain momentum in the CPH wing of the hobby: good people get tired, burned-out or have real world requirements taking them away from us. Good luck in all you do, Eric, and thanks for your hard work, both here and in the field. You will be hard to replace.
