Re: Wanna be on the cover of the AC? May 2010

What happened to the standing rule of the thread opened on the 20th the month. Starting on the 1st, I think, has caught all the members off guard.

This isn't a flame or baiting, just an observation:

Jason has a nice image, no doubt but it is not up to us to decide until later in the process. I have seen images in the past where it seemed to tug the heart strings, real life depolyment overseas or he is such a great guy added to increase their chances of you voting for image x, y, or z. All of that irrelevant, albeit nice touch, but irrelevant. Post your image don't classify it as a nice attempt or throw away. The contents of the image is what matters! Occasionally a bone should be tossed out like Eric's photo last month or when "Chawles" passed(RIP), God Bless Him.

I'm guessing that this is referring to my submission? I last submitted this image one year ago.

While this be may be no exception to previous entry rules, my whole intention was for it to be submitted specifically in MAY. As I stated previously, this is in commemoration of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. I think you'll be hard pressed in finding many submissions that have waited annually for a specific month.

      Thanks for your support,

Post script: I agree with Mr. Phillips' statement. I have submitted my image only because I followed what I thought were authentic guidelines. Furthermore, just because you submit an image, doesn't mean that it will necessarily qualify for the final nomination.

I read her reply is as a testament to quality submissions rather than the ol' stampede of mediocre stuff.

Whoa......obviously I'm not speaking in complete sentences, and caused offense when I did not mean to do so.

I know there is a one year limit on resubmission. I did not mean to imply it had been breeched by your image. I believe your image to be exceptionally unique, well researched, and a fine portrayal.

And thus, I'm interested in getting this process going, when entries were not coming in with their usual alarcity. A look back at old old threads will show that when I see what I consider to be an exceptional image, I'm real quick to sayso, throw in an image so the cap will get reached, and figure we should go ahead and acknowledge that feller's fine work.

But then, if we all thought alike, life would not be interesting.

No offense taken, I was just explaining my end of things.

i'll throw the last one out there to make ten. I'm still gonna vote for Spellman.

Here is a pic of myself and two boyscouts from troop 184 in Union City Ohio after they completed a 10 mile hike and all of Pickett's Charge with me. These kids had great attitudes the whole day and the two in the pic asked if they could make the charge in uniform.
