    Re: Vote for the July, 2010 Cover Photo

    I wasnt up on the battery when the image was struck, I was down below loading up a cannon with a mainstream unit I sometimes play with, and I can honestly attest that it was a hot day (not as hot as some previous events held there at Fisher) so that photograph proved dedication to the accuracy of a period image with the greatcoat. I too had a image struck that day with a pard, the two of us playing cards laying by a tree, hwever ours came out slightly blurry with the hardtack I was holding blending in with the english import capbox on my shoulder strap, so luckily for this image that problem didnt arise. I have had my image struck by Mr Harry Taylor a couple times before, and his work is getting much better, so dont be surprised if his name becomes just as highly regarded as Mr Robert Szabos!

      With the exception of some Live oak left for Daisy Lamb's quarters at Craig's Landing, all the trees along the river and land face at Fisher were cut down. A barren field extended at least 800 yards north. If that is the case then trees should not be visable in # 2. Otherwise, it is a fine image.

        Photo #1 is meant to recreate original propaganda photos made of Confederates by Union photographers. We are two Confederate POWs that have been told to put on Union greatcoats and stand in front of the camera for the sake of the Union to distribute this image around the country to show how merciful the Union is by giving their poor Southern brethren warm clothing (and then take the overcoats from us after the image is made [ ] ).

          As usual it was a tough decision. I ended up choosing the first one because I like there look. Great job to all!

              Since my first choice was the dead horse and the dead horse didn't make the cut, I vote for Nic 'cause he generates so much hate when he post a photo and hate is good for the hobby.t

                  What a priviledge to be in the top 3!!
                  A little more info about the photo:
                  My impression is a house servant/seamstress named Charity,
                  & the photo was taken at the Battle of Olustee event (feb '10).

                          Is that from the image of scouts for the army of the potomac in '64? If so, it's a pretty badass image..just sayin'.

                              This has been missing lately;
                              Greetings:

                              It is time to vote for ...the...cover. Please vote for the image that you feel is the most authentic. If your image is one of the final three, we are requiring that you provide some background information about the inspiration or impression for the image in this thread.

                              We encourage conversation about the impressions portrayed as well as any documentation that might be available that would add to the discussion. The intent of the selection process is to determine why you think one image is superior to another.

                              Thanks to everyone who submitted. Good luck to the finalists.
