Re: What are you in the market for?

Well lets see here... I'm having a columbus depot made by Glengarry Clothing depot(check that off the list.)

I need everything for my federal impression......dang

    AoT:
CS enlisted frock for early war
    a '42 defarbed springfield
Confederate knapsack maybe Isaac and Campbell
new CS trousers...old ones are gettin pretty thread bare
New brogans...old ones are about to fall off my feet
    Good authentic blankets
    Groundcloth
    Shelter half(maybe)
    springfield bayonet
    period underdrawers
    wood or tin drum canteen
    sling for my enfield

That'd about be it for now...always more will be surfacing through research though.

A good quality model 1859 McClellan saddle and associated horse tack. I've been mooching off of a very generous (and patient) comrade for far to long and I need to break down and buy my own stuff.

Re: What are you in the market for?

I clicked on "other" because I am now planning a long running budget )which feels like it rivals the Federal Government's budget) to acquire period-correct citizen's clothing. A long shot, starting with a sack/trousers combo to be augmented by other clothing accessories which will allow me to portray the broad casual spectrum of different socio-economic classes.

Of course, duds are useless without the knowledge, skills and attitudes to back them up, so there will be a lot of research to go with it.

        Let's hit the books . . .

I'm trying to put together a AoT North Carolina impression. I need about everything. I'm thinking of getting a Zimmerman '42 Springfield soon. It's going to be a slow process though. Full time college and part time job really hurt the finances! :D

Re: What are you in the market for?

I'm looking for a real Colt made 1860 army pistol. My original is getting tired (meaning it's looking like the antique it is) but I just don't cotton to using a foriegn made reproduction. I have the continuation Navy Colt pistol, but want an army one. I don't believe Colt still makes their Civil War models any more, so I'll have a hard time--but I'm looking.....

Also I can never have too many good forage caps and kepis--I'm a nut for them. (a kepi slut?)

It was a hat, but I ordered a new "bowler crown" from Tim Bender yesterday. Now I'm needing a pair of drawers! Gotta cover both "ends"!!

Since both are now bald, they chill easily !! :D

ya ron, the hat would cover one end better than the other.

Mine was a jacket, I need 2 more. Well I want 2 more, need a confederate frock and a state jacket.

Re: What are you in the market for?

Just about everything in a material sense, I'm moving up from being in a mainstream unit after 3 years. So far I have a Don Smith forage cap and 2 rivet bayonet scabbard, SS Sutler suspenders and civilian shirt, and that's about it.

I do have a full kit, but it's not all up to the standards of the 1st California, or to the new standards I have set for myself. I'm planning on ordering the SA Blouse and Trouser kits from County Cloth. And other items I want to see if I can make myself, as a college student I don't have a lot of money to throw around. I'm also a firm believer in DIY.

Need to upgrade my leathers, primarily cap box, belt, and bayonet scabbard. Fortunately the AC has a list of vendors to contact regarding my needs.
