Greetings:
I just wanted to take a timeout for a second to give you a heartfelt THANK YOU for supporting us. In the upcoming months, we will continue to listen to feedback from you and make improvements to the AC. In fact, we have more announcements coming just this week that we hope you will like.
We are roughly three weeks into the transition on the AC and yesterday, we enjoyed the most active day on the AC since October of last year. We have continued to see an increase in participation and membership. We started three weeks ago with 887 Likes on Facebook and now sit at 1,208. As we grow our Facebook presence, it will continue to expand our voice out into the reenacting community.
HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED SO FAR:
1) We re-vamped the appearance of the web site so we have our own look and brand. We will be rotating period photos for the cover from the Library of Congress. This will be done on a monthly basis again.
2) We opened up the posting on the Events Folder again and created an Event Committee to discuss the upcoming schedule. We have also reached out to many in the community who organize events and listened to their concerns.
3) We set up the event schedule based on our three-year planning window so you can see what is happening now and what is coming up.
4) We brought back Event Folders to coordinate "Max Effort" events for our community.
5) We created the Charles Heath Memorial Event Calendar to honor Charles and to help you further plan your event schedule.
6) We brought back the Bully Buy.
7) We brought back The Sinks and will now allow discussions of other time periods in that folder. We encourage you to share your other impressions in The Sinks. You must be a member and logged in to view The Sinks.
8) We have fixed most of the attachment problems so that members can now upload photos again.
9) We brought in four new, active, and talented members of the authentic community on Staff to infuse new blood and to re-connect with the more active members of our community.
10) We brought Andy Ackeret on as a Staff Writer to once again produce original content on the site.
11) We created The Book Shelf Forum as a place to discuss and recommend non-fiction Civil War books for research and information.
12) We re-vamped the AC Facebook Page and are utilizing it to bring people to the site.
13) We have reached out to the membership. 11,000 e-mails were sent out to current active members and long-time members and are making adjustments based on the feedback we have been receiving.
14) We are emphasizing new membership and encouraging new members to visit the Camp of Instruction Folder. The Moderators have been instructed to move any posts that are beginnner posts into the COI. We want bring in new people, but understand that all of us started somewhere.
15) We re-arranged the folders on the main forum page and compressed what you see as you log into the forums so there is less to scroll through.
16) Many other minor changes have been made "behind the curtain" to increase the interactivity of the site.
It is because of you that we continue to strive to improve. It is our job to provide the best platform possible to discuss the goings on in our COMMUNITY. There is much more to come! It will continue to be a mix of old and new. We would love to hear your feedback here and we ask that you spread the word that we are listening. THANK YOU!
