Good Afternoon:
We have an announcement to make. Since learning of Mark Choate's departure, Senior Cavalry Moderator Ken Knopp and I have been working on bringing in new Moderators over the last week. Ken is enroute to an event today, so he sent me this announcement to post for him. Take it away Ken:
It is both an honor and my great pleasure to introduce two new “mods” to the AC Cavalry Forum. Both of these gentlemen bring unique talents, authentic cavalry experience and ability to this forum.
Dan Chmelar is currently in Marine Reserve and brings youthful enthusiasm, knowledge and a firm authentic compass to the role here. Dan’s persona will be a great asset to bridging the gaps to reach out to new, younger guys wanting to take their impressions to a higher level and to bring back into the tent many of the older veterans that have strayed for various reasons.
Mark Bridges is a Tennessee teacher with many years of reenacting experience and a studied approach to the details in cavalry impressions. Mark’s quiet, easy going demeanor makes him very approachable and a perfect steady-hand fit here in this AC folder.
I am proud to have each one assisting me here on the AC to serve the cavalry side of the hobby in this important role.
In general, our purpose, efforts and rules here will remain the same. However, at this turning point I think it important to re-emphasize a few of those goals…..
First, from a basis of human interaction it just makes common sense that we make it a better experience for ourselves if we maintain decorum and respect for others. It also builds camaraderie and makes for lifelong friendships. If there is one thing that makes this hobby the most fun- it is sharing it with others. Goes without saying but important…..
Of most importance….What we do “here”……discovering and learning more about cavalry relative to our era of CW history; inserting that knowledge and recreating it into the most authentic experiences that we can achieve and to the best of our abilities; reaching out and spreading the opportunity for that experience to others.
We can do this many ways and we remain open here to fresh ideas from inside and out including but not limited to… authentic cavalry adjunct events for all of us to attend and re-visiting and re-hashing old points of interest for the purpose of presenting new information and educating others. I know these new mods will expand upon that to achieve those goals.
Great to have you gentlemen!!!
Please take this opportunity to post a brief bio/introduction of yourselves…
