  • Which Events Are You Interested in Attending in 2015?

Let's get those votes in folks! This is YOUR schedule. If we are going to break out after the 150ths, now is the time and the folks putting on these events want to hear from you.

Only 91 votes out of 3,827 members? Come on folks, we can do better than that. What events are you attending and why? What is it that you are looking forward too.

I have a pretty good handle on the spring. Waiting on final word for Sailor's Creek. I will likely do Petersburg since it is just down the road. Other than Carnifax Ferry in the fall I am still deciding on everything after Red River. Probably have a better idea after SCAR decides on fall events.

Looking forward to Platte Bridge Station in Wyoming. Won't be able to get out east in 2015. Would love to attend Petersburg and Appomattox just won't happen this year. To expensive and to far to travel. Hoping for 2016 to head east again.

Looks like you and I are in similar situation Thomas. I want to come out and do PBS but don't have the time or money. I hope you all have a safe and fun time.

Too many Adjunct/150th events. Personally I'm reading for some more original event ideas. Winter quarters looks to be my top choice in this list.

Re: Which Events Are You Interested in Attending in 2015?

Well since there aren't too many replies, My highlight will be the 150 mile Fort Caspar Adjunct. Since I am involved in the organization, this event has been my focus for the past two years. I have not seen anywhere where we can ride campaign style for close to 150 miles from point A to Point B.

Although this is my main event for 1015, I am already hoping someone has a campaign EFUBU event that allows cavalry to actually do what their normal role is/was in 2016. I want to scout for enemy in the area (without really knowing where they are), engage, hold until supported by infantry, remount and continue scouting around their flank. Although "Tacticals" have developed into a "bad word"...events designed to test the capabilities and tactics of each unit have been the best immersion experiences that I have had. The planned 150th events or other events that reenact a specific battle do not seem to allow new NCO's or even CO's to test their skills in quick decision making and field deployment. My own personal experience has proven that events without a "script" seem to be more spontaneous and realistic. But that is just my 2 cents on 2015 and 2016. Each type of event has their benefits and drawbacks.

Might start planning for the Savannah now. Lots of good stuff on the horizon. I'm just hoping soon the hobby gets back to self sustaining events on its own.

It is decidedly not EBUFU, but I'm pretty pumped about taking in as much good stuff as I can from the Lincoln Funeral Train event in Springfield next May.
