Greetings Everyone:
It is my pleasure to announce that after founding the Authentic Campaigner over fifteen years ago, Paul Calloway has donated the Authentic Campaigner to me. We have made the transition and still have a few minor things to change over, but for all intents-and-purposes, I have assumed full responsibility for the site.
It was almost exactly one year ago that I came on as the manager of the AC. It was my goal from the beginning to revitalize some of the old and bring in some new. Along those lines, we brought back the Bully Buy, cleaned up our links, added new Approved Vendors and most importantly, brought back the AC as the focal point for the EBUFU schedule. New organizers like Tyler Underwood, Ivan Ingraham, Sam Lowe, Rod Miller, Stephen Pavey and many others have stepped up to put together efforts. We will do our best to promote those efforts and anyone who wants to keep things going after the conclusion of the 150ths.
For the new, we have integrated our approach with Facebook and Twitter. We went with a new look, cleaned up banners, added the "Book Shelf" forum, and original articles from Craig Berry, and Curt Schmidt. Inspired by Ryan Burns, we have been posting a series of "Close-Up" Images. We have been bringing on new moderators who are active in participating and organizing events.
Going forward, we are looking at different types of software. vBulletin has been good to us, but there are other options out there these days that are less expensive and more integrated into social media. Additionally, we desperately need to improve the ability to upload images here. From my perspective, that seems to be the number one issue with this software. Other versions also offer mobile-ready options within the software. I am not sure how quickly we will do this, but it is in the works with Brent Dacus, who is doing much of the legwork.
Please feel free to share your feedback here. I am excited to continue the tradition of those who have gone before me as owner of this site. I especially want to thank Paul for all of the great years here at the AC. Paul and I worked many hours in here on April Fools, covers, back-ups, software patches, etc, etc, over the years. In the process, we became pretty good friends and I have tried to honor that friendship by maintaining the standards that Paul established.
Lastly, this site belongs to all of us. The staff here keeps order and plots a direction, but it is done by listening to you. Recently, Bob Szabo announced that he was going to close his forum. After an outpouring of support, he decided to keep it open. That was good news to me, because in my opinion, we all need to be successful in this hobby and we all have our niche. The success of the mainstream is success for all of us and vice versa. Forums can still assist in that role. So, having said that, we plan to keep the doors open here for as long as you want us to do it. It is an honor and privilege to serve this community and I thank you for your continued support. Please take a moment here to also thank the staff here at the AC. They are volunteers and have put in many of their own hours to support our hobby.
Now, let's get done with the 150ths and take back our freakin' schedule!
