  • Milestone - 5,000 Followers on Facebook

    Greetings!

We have hit a milestone on Facebook and we want to thank every one of you for supporting the Authentic Campaigner. Yesterday, we topped 5,000 followers for the first time. I can't completely express my gratitude to all of you and the staff that makes this place go. I took over the AC two years ago last month and I have enjoyed every minute and I hope you have as well.

This hobby has given me lifelong friends I count as brothers and sisters. I'm sure the same is true for you as well. And while we are talking about Facebook, I hope you see it the same way as me. When I see a fellow reenactor on-line, our community comes first. While we may have political or cultural differences in "real life", all of us are part of a fellowship that will never be broken. Hopefully, the AC is a place that you see as a refuge from all of the noise of modern day social media.

I chose this photo for the occasion, because pictured here are me and my two best friends in the hobby, Joe Liechty and Ken Cornett. We have traveled together, watched our kids grow up together and we founded Mess No. 1 together, along with our other fellow founding member, Evan Zimmerman. If not for reenacting, we may have never met.

A milestone is just that - a marker telling you where you are. We have more milestones to cross as we move forward. All we can ask from you is your continued support and to spread the word about what we do in authentic living history. Let's leave our mark for the next generation. Let's #PreserveHistory together.

    Thank You!

I'm glad that Facebook is (hopefully) bringing guys back to the forums. I understand how FB has its place, but the lack of historic debate backed by facts is clearly evident. Not to mention you only "see" certain things, whereas this site allows guys to browse through topics, search, and sell black powder weapons.

I 100% agree with Mark. This is a virtual library for reenactors, researchers, and yes... FB's grossly over reaction to historical firearms sale is that platform's loss, and the AC's gain. Just my 2 bits.

Not trying to hijacke this thread. But am I the only one who has noticed that Liechty is the only person in the photo who is civilized enough to drink from a cup?

It's what he "has" in the cup Tyler that is important. Sort of looks like Grand pappy with his grand kids. Believe it or not I'm the oldest of the three!
