Re: What are your favorite WBTS units.

        Hampton Legion... still my favorite.

In that, I mean that as an early war unit, the Hampton Legion has infantry, artillery and cavalry units within it to constitute today what is known as "combined arms"- all branches under one central command. If you want to do impressions of either branch, then you can still do this unit.

H Co. German Volunteers and SC Zouave Volunteers were within the Legion. Wouldn't it be neat to see these units at an early war event? I haven't so far...

Members of the original unit were eventually transferred to other units within the ANV in mid-1862 after it proved to be more useful to consolidate command during the reorganization of the ANV that year. You can do those units' impressions too (Hood's Texas Brigade, the 2nd SC Cavalry when it went independent of the other branches of the Legion).

Something fascinates me that a non-military, wealthy man before the war pretty much bought his own Army through his own private funds (and a little help from English contractors that supplied him) and volunteered for Confederate service to his State.

        How noble... that's true grit.

I nary say you'd find a Donald Trump or a Bill Gates buying his own military unit and goig to Iraq to serve as a general these days...

My interest centers around the mid- late war eastern theatre.

                              US:

16th Maine - for their actions at Gettysburg.
                              124th - New York
155th PA - hometown guys (Pittsburgh anyway) w/ an impressive record and great hybrid uniforms from late 63 - 65.

                              CS:
                              2nd Maryland
