  • Wanna Be on the January 2007 Cover?

    Comrades:

Wanna Be on the January 2007 "cover" of the Authentic Campaigner? We are looking for images that best-exemplify the look of the authentic living historian. Images taken with period technology only, please. (wet plate, etc.) are required. Both citizen and military images are welcome.

    Submission Guidelines:

    1) We will accept the first ten image submissions only. The thread will be closed after the tenth image is submitted.

    2) Once we have ten images, the high privates will select the final three. The final three will then be put up for a general vote to the membership of the forum. The winning image will be placed on the front "cover" of the web site for one month.

    3) If you aren't able to get your image into the first vote, you are more than welcome to re-submit it for the next cover. We will be changing them every month.

    4) Make sure and attach the photo to your post. If necessary, we will crop the photo for the best fit.

    5) The Moderators/Administrators reserve the right to remove any submittals that they feel don't meet the standards of the Authentic Campaigner.

    Let's see those images!

Ok, one last try with this image. I'm submitting it without the retouching I did the last time I tried it. Its a glass plate taken of me and my son at 1st Manassas earlier this year in our early war militia overshirts.

                      A Meeting of Brothers

I thought I might as well throw in this wetplate, made at Fresno, CA last fall. A secret fraternal order photo with layers of meaning.

Present are members of the 1st California Infantry: Don Smith, Troy Groves, Sean Askentowitz, & Tom Smith (topo-engineer).

So, you think that scrap in the East is rough, do you?
Ever consider what it means to be captured by Apaches?

We have our ten images. Thanks to everyone who submitted. Sorry Robert, your's was number 11, so it is not included. I remember that Lookout event very well. You can get that image back in next month.

This thread is officially closed. We will have the final three within the next three days.
