  • Wanna Be on the March Cover?

    Greetings:

Do you have an image that you would like to submit for the March 2007 "cover" of the Authentic Campaigner? We are looking for images that best-exemplify the look of the authentic living historian. Images taken with period technology only, please. (wet plate, etc.) are required. Both citizen and military images are welcome.

Final Three - The final three will be required to submit a description of their image for the purpose of the final vote. For example - what was the inspiration? From original image? What is the impression, etc. As we have discussed previously, we would very much like to see a more in-depth discussion of the images that are submitted. Chiming in with "me too" is ideally not the feedback that we would like to see. Your constructive input is encouraged and appreciated.

    Submission Guidelines:

    1) We will accept the first ten image submissions only. The thread will be closed after the tenth image is submitted.
    2) Once we have ten images, the moderators will select the final three. The final three will then be put up for a general vote to the membership of the forum. The winning image will be placed on the front "cover" of the web site for one month.
    3) If you aren't able to get your image into the first vote, you are more than welcome to re-submit it for the next cover. We will be changing them every month.
    4) Make sure and attach the photo to your post. If necessary, we will crop the photo for the best fit.
    5) The Moderators/Administrators reserve the right to remove any submittals that they feel don't meet the standards of the Authentic Campaigner.

    Let's see those images!

The poses in this image were inspired by a variety of Confederate prisoner images and shows variations of demeanors and characters as with the originals.

                Hey Fellas,

This photo was taken at Fort James Jackson, Savannah River Defense Headquarters, Savannah, Georgia in 2004 during a living history weekend for the 4th of July.

This photo depicts myself in the 1864 uniform of the 11th Georgia Volunteer Infantry Battalion, Co. "A" "Savannah Volunteer Guards." This was the first time since the War Between The States this particular unit and uniform had been depicted and worn, thats 140 years since they last wore this uniform!

This uniform was completely researched through the Georgia Historical Society to the Savannah Volunteer Guards as of late 1864.

                Regards,

We had this done by Gibson a few months ago in Gettysburg. We are dressed as early war Confederates. It is my Dad and I.

Looks like a splendid image! Do you have a sharper scan? It would be great to see the details of the impression.
