  • Wanna Be on the April Cover of the AC?

    Greetings:

Do you have an image that you would like to submit for the April 2007 "cover" of the Authentic Campaigner? We are looking for images that best-exemplify the look of the authentic living historian. Images taken with period technology only, please. (wet plate, etc.) are required. Both citizen and military images are welcome.

Final Three - The final three will be required to submit a description of their image for the purpose of the final vote. For example - what was the inspiration? From original image? What is the impression, etc. We would like to see a continuation of last month's discussion of the impressions portrayed. Please refrain from "me too" comments. As always, your constructive input is encouraged and appreciated.

    Submission Guidelines:

    1) We will accept the first ten image submissions only. The thread will be closed after the tenth image is submitted.
    2) Once we have ten images, the moderators will select the final three. The final three will then be put up for a general vote to the membership of the forum. The winning image will be placed on the front "cover" of the web site for one month.
    3) If you aren't able to get your image into the first vote, you are more than welcome to re-submit it for the next cover. We will be changing them every month.
    4) Make sure and attach the photo to your post. If necessary, we will crop the photo for the best fit.
    5) The Moderators/Administrators reserve the right to remove any submittals that they feel don't meet the standards of the Authentic Campaigner.

    Let's see those images!

I have a ferrotype of myself and two other Federals taken in 1988 at 125th Gettysburg. How do I attach it? I click "insert image" and it asks for the URL of the image. There is no URL--it is only stored on my hard drive.

Ah what the heck I'll try again after all I'm a glutton for punishment.:D

Glass plate taken at 1st Manassas last year in our early war battle shirts. Image is of me and my son as privates. We were trying less to recreate a specific picture rather than one of a more generic look. What we were striving for was the type of portrait a soldier may have sent home to loved ones.

            John,

Who was the photographer? It looks like its the same rug as in my shot from Manassas and I can't remember the name of the photographer. I'm hoping that yours may be the same and by hearing his name it will register.

Re: Wanna Be on the April Cover of the AC?

An image, "A Father and His Boys", taken at Atlanta in November 2005 by Wendell Decker. I had been trying for some time to get an image struck of myself and my two sons. The idea was of an image of a father with his two sons, captured as a keepsake or to send home to their Mother.

Andrew Jerram at left, Paul Jerram, seated, and Tim Jerram, at right.

                        Kind regards.
