  • New registrations and denials

Folks - We get 8-10 new registrations a day here on the AC and we do the best job we can with them. Sometimes some trolls get in that shouldn't and sometimes some good people get denied access that shouldn't. It's an imperfect system and I hope you all can appreciate that.

I've been getting a lot of angry emails here of late with people complaining about their memberships being denied. First, I've taken some steps to change the email that gets sent to those who have been denied... it should now provide a recourse to those denied if they feel the denial was in error. Second, if someone you know does get denied membership, and their intent was sincere in applying, please ask them to reapply or have 'em get in touch with one of the administrators here.

We aren't trying to keep good people off the forums here. We really aren't.

Personally, I think you all as moderators do an excellent job with this forum. It is tough to manage such a vast and diverse membership. Please do not feel discouraged.
This is the best forum available in terms of research and growth as a reenactor.

You really are doing an excellent job on this Paul---and sometimes it is really difficult to tell---I've fielded 3 inquiries in the last three weeks from ladies who didn't want to ask outright why they were turned down.

In each case, I was able to discern something in the application pattern that would have raised a question in my mind--and told them how to fix it, and when to reapply. Problem solved.

The mod team here has a tough job; the good fight is being fought by the mods here and those who don't appreciate it... tough.

I think what you are doing is commendable. I frequent other sites and wish they had the courage to be as professional as I believe this team has been here on the A/C.

I often reply on those sites in such a way as to point out that they need to keep the discussions focused as much as possible on the topics. It is certainly an uphill battle.

                Re: New registrations and denials

I personally love this site, it's my opening homepage, and it's due to the fact that not everyone can get membership here. I know when I read something on this site, other than in the sinks, that it's reliable information. You can't have that confidence on other sites.

                  Paul, et.al.,

I add my voice to those already posted; keep up the good work. NOBODY can fault you for doing the very best you can, not even those denied access. I truly appreciate what and the other mods do.
