I've just emailed to over 2,000 users our inaugural AC newsletter. This is something I'd like to develop here at the AC and something a lot of other communities use to great effect. The idea is to promote some of the better discussions here, promote the better events, promote the research articles and the vendors... you get the idea.

Authentic Campaigner Updates -
Haven’t been to the Authentic Campaigner recently? We invite you to come back and see some of the more interesting things we have going on the forum. For instance, Ryan McIntyre of the 124th NYSV started this gem up relating to the age old discussion of Battlefield pickups:
"Many times while discussing uniforms and equipment with fellow pards, I have heard the excuse "A soldier would(or could) have picked one of these up on the battlefield," as an answer to traps not originally issued to that specific regiment. Now I am surely not denying the fact that soldiers were in contact with different bits of clothing and accoutraments, but I question the correctness of a soldier acctually picking up something while in the heat of battle."

Our Camp of Instruction folder has a new and interesting discussion relating to Hard Soap, posted by Stephen Feryus. There's quite a bit of primary resource information provided in the discussion and its proved to be very educational.

While we didn't schedule a Bully Buy for June, we expect to have one posted for July.
Here's something worth noting however from C.J. Daley:
"The publisher of our drill manuals has announced that there will be no future runs of drill manuals. http://www.cjdaley.com/manuals.htm If you are in need of Casey's, Gilham's, or Hardee's manuals, order now! If you are an officer and have never had a copy of these manuals, or think you may be an officer someday, don't hesitate, once they are gone, they are gone. You can order these manuals online, or you may call us at anytime.
