  • Law Enforcement Officers

Just thought it might be interesting to see how many of us have been or currently are in law enforcement, whether full time or reserve. I fall into the reserve category. I'm currently a deputy with the Williamson County Sheriff's Department, Tenn.

    Re: Law Enforcement Officers

    Justin,
I am a former Deputy Sheriff for the City of Newport News, Virginia. I left the Sheriff's Office to move to Kentucky. I was employed as a full-time Deputy for over 3 years. I know it sounds odd . . but, I miss being a Deputy. It’s more of a sense of honor, wearing the uniform. Currently, I am an Officer on my Fire Department (18 years this October) . . working on becoming an Arson Investigator. I'm almost done with my degree . . and, have already received my certifications in Arson Investigation.

I don't think that sounds odd at all. I patrol about 20 hours a week ( on top of a full time 50 hour a week job), and I miss it when I'm not in the patrol car. I am lucky to be a deputy in an excellent department with some great officers. I also consider it an honor to be a deputy in my county, because I was born and raised in this county.

PS - If anyone reading this has an extra patch or two from your department, let me know. I can trade some of our department patches. Just a little side hobby of mine.

        justin,

i was employed as a georgia state trooper for almost 8 years. i am currently employed with the crisp county (ga) sherrif's office. i left the state patrol for family reasons, buit loved my time with them. being a state trooper afforded me opprtunities to do things that i otherwise would never have gotten to experience. i pretty much get to do the same thing with the sherrif's office, just on a smaller scale. being in law enforcement is a lot like being a reenactor/living historian, once the bug bites, you can never get enough.

                Mr. Reynolds,

The next time you talk to either Robert 'Bob' Whigham, or Edwin 'Eddie' Guard, tell 'em Gunny Hicks from Budapest ('96-98) and Muscat ('98-'99) sends his regards.

                    Re: Law Enforcement Officers

Thank you. I figured that almost anyone in DSS would know them.

I had Dinner in Quantico with Eddie back in Dec. of 2002 when I was out there for a TAD trip to the Base.

Both were exceptional RSO's, and I enjoyed learning from, and working with each of them.

I come from a law enforcement family. Dad did time in San Q., my brother is still in and I just got out. Does that count?
