Re: Would you be willing to pay a nominal fee for membership?

I just dropped $14.00 for a fast food dinner for me and the wife without even thinking about it. (Long hot day, too tired to cook)
Taking that into account and the fact I read through this site before making any major buys on equipment makes
$10.00 a year is well worth it for me..Books are not getting any cheaper and I spend at least some time here very evening even though I rarely post.
    Count me in.

I don't always post, but I do read every day. Authenitc Campaigner is my dedicated home page when I open my web brousere. If you can make the membership fee payable on line with a credit card that is secure, I would willingly pay to keep this site working.

        Not a problem.

I've made friends, obtained firearms, uniform items, and scads of information here. Why WOULDN'T I pay a fee?

As Paul said, there is a way in place for one to contribute to the forum now. All those who say they would gladly pay a subscription could certainly make a donation now and accomplish the same thing. So instead of posting saying you'd be willing to pay, go ahead and do it.

I come here at least 3 times a day and have learned a lot from the site. I would feel it entirely appropriate to charge a small fee, I am amazed given how much we all get out this that it has stayed free this long. Paul, it would seem fair for all of us to share the cost.

I love the information that I receive from this site. Unfortunately I am a poor college student who needs to save every dime I can get so I would not be able to subscribe. I see most people are favorable to the idea but I just wanted to be honest.

I'm not sure when this thread started but just catching I have to say without a doubt I would pay a couple of dollars to keep the site active.

                      Paul,

Some folks would think that you just asked everyone to pay $5 for a fence rail in exchange for viewing privileges. :wink_smil

As minimal a fee as you're proposing, I don't see it as outrageous for what we actually get here. Forge ahead.

Hey Paul - if nothing else, this is a way to say thank you to you and all the other
big bugs that make this site possible. As in organizing anything of worth, it can
be a very tiring and thankless job. But we are glad you all take the time, and do
                        it right.

Re: Would you be willing to pay a nominal fee for membership?

Good on ya fellas. Paul and I have talked about this becoming a possibility for a few months now, we did'nt know that it would be so soon however. It really does look like this is going to have to happen or we simply shut her down, operating costs are increasing not in the 10's or 20's of percents, but in the hundreds of percents.

Now it's not a forgone conclusion as yet...Paul and I certainly want to keep this as low cost as possible to the average user and if there is a way to make it free, then we will do that provided it does not sacrifice our vision of the site and the content that you all have come to expect from us.

Don't go jumping on the donation wagon to hard right now (although the sentiment is much appreciated and will always help) lest you feel that we are double dipping should we have to go to a paysite. But hey, if you dont mind a donation and a small subscription fee in the coming months, bully for you.

Paul and I will continue to see that you get what you have come to expect from the AC...and more. There are things I know we want to do to add to the site, but costs have been a factor there as well. We'll be here as long as you'll have us.

Oh, Nick...Stay away from universities, those guys came to me twice a year asking for thousands in exchange for information. What a racket.

I will gladly pay a fee for access. And to prove my sincerity, I am going right now to the home page and click on "paypal" and donate $10.00. Anybody else want to help now?
