  • Wanna Be on the March Cover of the AC?

    Greetings:

Wanna be on the March Cover of the Authentic Campaigner? We are looking for images that best-exemplify the look of the authentic living historian. Images taken with period technology only are required (wet plate, pencil drawing, field sketches, etc.) If you have submitted an image within the last year, please refrain from submitting. Let's give a chance to those who haven't previously submitted. Thank you.

    Submission Guidelines:

    1) We will accept the first ten image submissions only. The thread will be closed after the tenth image is submitted, and any images submitted after the tenth will be deleted from the thread.

    2) Once we have ten images, the staff will select the final three. The final three will then be put up for a general vote to the membership of the forum. The winning image will be placed on the front "cover" of the web site for one month.

    3) Make sure and attach the photo to your post. If necessary, we will crop the photo for the best fit.

    4) The Moderators/Administrators reserve the right to remove any submittals that they feel don't meet the standards of the Authentic Campaigner.

    Let's see those images!

Here is an image taken by Steve Ingram at the ONV Living History at Kenosha, Wisconsin. We are portraying the milita men of the Park City Grays, which eventually would muster into the 1st Wisconsin Infantry. In the back standing is Jim Schumann, and seated from left to right is Dan Chmelar, Tim Wilson, and Ryan Protz.

Here is a tin type by Wendell Decker. It features 2 pards and myself. I entitled it "A Fair Game?"

Side Note: At the time of this picture all 3 pards are under 21 years old.

Here is my entry for the cover,

The quarter plate was taken at Mill Springs, KY. September/October of 2007

Photographer was Mr. Wendell Decker, of Vintage Image Studios.

The title of the image is, "Death Before Dishonor." My portrayal is of an early war Connecticut Volunteer Infantry Color Sergeant.

My first post, I am new at this but have tried to get a good impression together. Had this campaigner shot done at Olustee by Wendell Decker. I'm sorry it's a little dark, I'm not real sure how to make it brighter.

                  Thanks again,
