    Greetings Everyone:

It is time to vote for the April Cover of the Authentic Campaigner. Please vote for the image that you feel is the most authentic. If your image is one of the final three, we require that you provide some background information about the inspiration or impression for the image in this thread.

Image #1 is great, as some one who collects images from the war I think we sometimes get too focused on the soldier. This image really shows that sublime look you often see in the people that were left behind great job on the look and the image.

While myself and Bill Backus were there when the first and third images were struck, i must say all three are amazing shots. I talk often with two good friends about how some people just do not have that look while others just got it and we try so hard to equate that to a variety of factors. However I think I can say that these three images are perhaps some of the best I have seen submitted. Mr. Jason W, Kate, Mike and Nick I believe all truly encompass that "look." This is going to be a tough race and I am happy to say that. While the quality of the living historians are above par, I believe the images themselves all exemplify the pinnacle of wet plate techniques and need to be acknowledged just the same. My vote will go for Image one, as I must agree that while the other two images are excellent, we often do not seen the same civilian representation we come to expect from the military side of the forum.

Wow, tough choice, all three images are excellent! Really, it's a difficult pick this month, but decided to go with whimsy, that gutta percha bracelet was sweet!:p#1

Thanks for the support, I like the bracelet too :) This image is the result of spending a morning with Bob Szabo in Fredericksburg- it was the morning after the Battle of Fredericksburg event in December and Mike, Nick, myself and others convinced Bob that he really needed to hang out for awhile and let us commandeer his attention! We picked Kenmore for the location of our "photo shoot." Kenmore was the home of Fielding Lewis (who married George Washington's sister) and the house dates from the 1770s. As for my image in particular, I really wanted to parallel that famous washer-woman stereotype and capture an almost confident ideal that women surely had to possess in order to survive such trying times. The opportunity to pose in front of Kenmore gave me room to really play with my kit and add some accessories that I don't normally wear. Kenmore was the perfect venue to explore a higher class 19th century impression. So glad you enjoy it, and Bob, thanks again for such a great image!

Myself and my pard Nick were going for that 'brothers in arms' look. The type you send back to your familys back home to show 'look at us, were doing ok, be proud'. Though Miss Kate... I am a fan of yours!

I thought the guys in image No. 3 had good facial expressions as well as uniforms. I also thought they had authentic looking builds which are hard to come by. Voted for No. 3 even though they aren't musicians:wink_smil. Sorry fellow musicians.:(

Great images this month... Having just received a copy of Dressed For The Photograpy yesterday, I must vote for image no. 1. I am trully facinated by civilian and especially ladies fashion of the time.
Thanks to all for their submit.

Re: Vote For the April Cover

I like No. 2 because of the backround. You see that style of backround in many period pictures, especially early war ones. I think alot of reenactors don't have their pics taken in front of them because by modern standards they look a little... comical. Also, because of this, I'm guessing many photagraphers don't bother getting them. This decreases the amount of pics with them even more.

Though I wouldn't mind seeing No. 1 every time I log on...
