  • Dr. Raymond E. Giron

Historian and inspiration to many Florida reenactors, Dr. Ray Giron passed away in his sleep on Saturday after a bout with brain cancer.
Ray established several events to bring attention to Florida's overlooked history. These include Olustee, Natural Bridge and Dade's Massacre (1835).
He was a collector, and educator, of militaria. He was also involved in a number of written works on historic weapons. Was always happy to answer questions. He worked on a number of historic movies in the prop department.
    Good man, now at rest.
He is to be buried in VA tomorrow. Many of us will not be able to attend, but to continue his baby, the Battle of Olustee. This weekend we will pay him honor at morning colors.
You will be missed. I am honored to have known and served with him.
    Joe Blunt
