  • Period Wallpaper?

I was reminded of this by Matt Caldwell's selling of some box blanks. I was thinking of making a band box or two and acutally have some repo newspaper to line them but have no idea where to find wallpaper scraps to cover them. A search yielded nothing helpful. Where do you get the stuff?

    Thanks to all.

This link will help when searching for companies that make period correct reproductions of wallpaper from original specimens.

      Re: Period Wallpaper?

A few years ago, I went to the Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum up in Brunswick, Maine. They were in the process of restoring some of the rooms and one of the docents had told me that during the Resto process, that came across the original wallpaper. They apparently found a source that would be able to reproduce it on a large scale and I stopped back and had seen the result and it looked great.

      Give them a look, here.

I'd give them a shout and see who they went through. The results were well worth the look.

      Hope this helps,

There are a number of wallpaper companies that produce document prints, i.e. wallpapers that are exact duplicates of period designs in the original colorway. Some of them are printed using the original rollers. Most of these companies sell through interior designers and design centers; check your local listings for possible sources. There are also a number of books on recreating historic interiors that list sources for documented wallpapers.
